I'm sorry Dell, but, perhaps you can't count?

I should clear things up for you. I ordered my laptop one week ago. It was a thursday. The 20th, I might add, but since you can't count, it doesn't really matter.

So thursday. I start counting on Friday. One (1).
Next comes Saturday, that's two (2).
Sunday, we'll skip. It's a postal holiday, so whatever, take a day off. Go have fun doing your computer-free shopping or beach-going or whatever it is you do.
Next comes Monday, that's three (3). This is when I start expecting a package. It's okay, though, I don't need it YET, and you're a damn computer company, so efficiency isn't too important to you.
Next it's Tuesday, that's four (4). Okay, I'd like to get it on Tuesday, since it means your running on time and all that.
Wednesday. Five (5). My computer should arrive Wednesday, since it's the END OF YOUR DELIVERY PERIOD.

Naw. It's now Thursday (six (6), by the way). That's okay, I understand that you have to deliver a lot of computer now, since it's the beginning of the school year and all. And now it's not just college kids, but freaking 8-year-olds who think they new laptops. So leeway. But I go online and check the status, just in case, you know...

Order Status: In production. Wait, what? You mean you haven't even finished putting it together? How long does it take?
Estimated Delivery Date: 9/4/2009 A fricken long time! Thirteen (13) days, not counting Sundays, because there's no bloody mail on Sundays.

I have the strong urge to write some bitchy, passive aggressive email to them (which of course I won't), about how they should mention the production time somewhere a little more prominent than where it's squirreled away. Because some customers have a time frame, and won't order from companies that pretend to match their time frame when, in fact, they don't.

I'm going to be leaving for school at 6am on the 3rd. My laptop (may) arrive on the 4th. That (in case you can't figure it out, Dell) is the day after I leave. I was informed upon purchasing that my computer would arrive yesterday at latest. I suppose I'm stupid for not realizing that they have to put it together, but, really now. How many people buying from Dell actually know how long that sort of thing would take. I don't know, it seems like 8-10 days is a little excessive, though. I found this: "Dell systems typically take approximately 3 - 6 business days to build" and that's all they have to say on the matter. Good, I should be receiving it 6-11 days after ordering. I guess 13 isn't too far of a stretch.

Anyhow, I'm mostly just pissed that I might not have my computer before college. And I don't know about shipping large (expensive) packages to my PO box at school. Because it means that my parents will be mailing it to me at school, during my orientation.

Heh. Maybe it'll be good for me not to have a computer for the first week.

As long as I get texting before then. >.<
